Consultancy and Expert Witness Services for the Chemical and Pharmaceutical Industry
Scientific Update LLP provides a wide range of consultancy services, both business and scientific, to the chemical/pharmaceutical industry, and its consultants have acted as expert witness in patent litigation.
Dr. Trevor Laird, who was formerly Director of Process Development at Smith Kline and French, has provided consultancy in process chemistry and related fields to a number of pharmaceutical and fine chemical companies across the globe since setting up Scientific Update in 1989. The demand for these services grew significantly over the years and Scientific Update therefore expanded its consultancy capabilities and capacity, firstly with the recruitment five years ago of Dr Will Watson, who was previously Technical Director at Lancaster Synthesis, and more recently with the recruitment of Dr John Knight, Vice President, Process R&D at Evotec, Abingdon, UK, who will join the team at Scientific Update LLP in January 2008 as Scientific Director.
In addition to Trevor, Will and John, Scientific Update offers the services of two Associate Consultants, Dr Derek Robinson, formerly with Parke Davis, and Dr Keith Turner, formerly with Davy McKee and Rohm and Haas.
Together, this independent consultancy team has a substantial breadth and depth of experience and knowledge in pharmaceuticals, fine chemicals and related fields, especially in the field of organic process research and development. Scientific Update Consultants sit on the scientific advisory boards of a number of companies, and Trevor and Peter have been appointed as independent expert witnesses for a number of legal trials in Europe and the USA.
Scientific Update Consultancy also offers project management services for virtual pharmaceutical companies, effectively acting as their chemistry department. In addition, advice relating to the strategic management of drug development programmes is offered.
